Betty Darlene Schneider

Betty Darlene Schneider , age 87, of St. Charles, died in her sleep at her home on October 6, 2024.

Betty was born one of eight children to Raymond and Dorothy (Hennings) Mason in Annandale, Minnesota. She attended school in the area and graduated from Robbinsdale High School. While in Robbindsdale, she was the manager of the pet department at Woolworth's. Betty gave birth to her son, Glen Rae Holscher Jr. on April 21st, 1957. He was her Easter baby and was known by those close to him by "Bunny". She and her son, Glen, Jr. moved to Chatfield in 1971 and made a life there together. . Her son, Tyre was born in Rochester on November 11th of 1973. She was working for North Star Foods in St. Charles when she met Eugene Schneider, who was the store's manager. After his retirement, Betty and Eugene reconnected and the couple married on December 11, 1999 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Chatfield. They made their home in rural St. Charles. During their time together, Betty also worked for Strongwell in Chatfield.

Betty was an avid gardener and bird watcher. Over the years, she was awarded many blue ribbons for her green thumb abilities in the open class at the Winona County Fair. She and Eugene spent many wonderful years together. Family was the center of her life and nothing thrilled her more than to have them attend church with her. Her faith in God was first and foremost in her life and she held her church family close to her heart as well. She was part of the local Kiwanis group and has been a member of Calvary Baptist for over 50 years. Her family also included her pets. Her dogs were her babies. Her love of animals was great, but elephants were her favorite and she had a collection to show it. She treasured her life with Eugene and the family they blended together. She treasured their time together immensely.

Betty will be greatly missed by her husband Eugene and her son and daughter-in-law Tyre and Lacy Holscher of Lake City, one daughter-in-law Denise Holscher of Becker, MN, her honorary children Marion (Ken) Decker of Utica, Stacy (James) Nelson of Rochester and Luann (Mike) Rieber of La Cresent, MN. She is further survived by her siblings Raymond (Kitty) Mason of Maple Lake, MN, Bonnie (Lyle) Turk of Bagley, MN and Julie (George) Bursch of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Glen on August 18, 2020 and her siblings Dorene, Edith, Johnnie and Kenny.

Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Chatfield on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Mike Gittins officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10-12:00 p.m. A time of luncheon and fellowship will follow services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Calvary Baptist Church in Betty's name are appreciated.
