WINONA AND FORMERLY FROM RUSHFORDBetty Mae Rasmussen, 89, of Winona and formerly from Rushford, died Monday evening, April 1, 2013 at Winona Health.The second of six children, Betty was born May 15, 1923 in Peterson, MN to Oscar and Gina (Dahle) Hanson. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith. Betty was a prayerful woman with a deep devotion to the Lord. Every night, she prayed for each member of her family, which is the reason she went to sleep at 7pm most evenings. After graduating from Peterson High School, Betty attended secretarial school in Winona for two years. Shortly after, she was united in marriage to Rollins Rasmussen on September 11, 1943 during an evening ceremony at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rushford. Betty and Rollins enjoyed dining out and dancing to the music of Leon and Kaye Rostvold After her husbands death, Betty enjoyed taking bus trips with her friends and visiting her sister in Alexandria, but above all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life, Betty had many passions, but her main focuses were always family, faith, and friends. She was a kind woman who loved unconditionally and will be missed by many.Betty is survived by her children, Dennis (Carolyn) of Winona, Richard "Dick" (Barbara) of Lewiston, Dale (Sandy) of Rushford, Dian (Mark) Biesanz of Winona, Mary (John) Larkie of Winona, and David (Lynne) of Winona; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and 2 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; sister, Olive (Don) Leland of Alexandria; brother, Eugene (Bernice) Hanson of Peterson; sisters-in-law, Luanne Hanson, Deloris (Art) Ensberg, and Lorna Rasmussen; brother-in-law, Robert Highum; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rollins in 1980; sisters, Irene Hanson and Clarice Highum; and brother, Ordell Hanson.Funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. Reverend Michelle Rem of Central Lutheran Church in Winona will officiate.
