Betty E. Kinney, of Chatfield, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at Season’s Hospice in Rochester.
Betty E. (Holden) Kinney was born Jan. 1, 1923 to Oscar and Hazel (Adams) Holden in Marion Township Clayton County, Iowa. In 1939 she married Leslie Hill; they later divorced. In 1962 she married Marvin Berse who passed away in 1988. She married Frank Kinney in 1993.
Betty was a member of the Chatfield Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also active with volunteer work. She especially enjoyed sewing, baking, playing cards, dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one sister, two brothers, one grandson, two sons-in-law, and two great-grandsons.
Survivors include her husband, Frank; four sons, Ronald (Pat) Hill of Chatfield; Gerald (Jenny) Hill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John Berse of Wabasha, and Dale Kinney of Brownsdale; five daughters, Cynthia (Lee) Hertramph of Monona, Iowa, Denise Wendt (Tom Buckingham) of Kasson, Jane (Jerry) Moen, of Winona, Teddie Neis of Strawberry Point, and Joanne (Kinney) Polk of Stewartville; twenty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, sister Ruby (Holden) Davis of Bonaparte, Iowa, one brother Joel Holden of Wadena, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be
Monday, December 1st from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
followed by the funeral service at
11 a.m.
at Chatfield Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Docken officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield.
