Elba,     Betty Jean Hildebrand, 78 of Elba died Saturday afternoon May 10th at her home in Elba. Betty was born May 25, 1924 in St. Charles to Matthew and Lucinda (Pierce) Potter. She and E.J. “Bud” Hildebrand were married on May 27, 1948 in St. Charles. The couple farmed in Elba Township until retiring and moving to Elba in 1977. Bud died June 21, 1996.Betty enjoyed playing cards, needlework and cooking. She was an avid bowler and reader. Betty was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and Lady’s Aid in Elba and of the Able Homemakers group.Survivors include four children, Mary (David) Larson of Valley Lee, Maryland; Patricia (Terry) Haack of Elba; Jackie (Jeff) Overkamp of Altura; and Richard (Jill Haas) Hildebrand of Elba, seven grandchildren, one great grandson, Chase Nathaniel Larson, a brother James (Phyllis) Potter and a sister Helen Murphy, both of St. Charles, In addition to her husband, a grandson Ryan Larson, a granddaughter Jenny Overkamp, two brothers and two sisters have preceded her in death.There will be a Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at St. Aloysius Catholic Church from 5-8 PM Tuesday and one hour before services on Wednesday. There will be a prayer service at 7:45 PM Wednesday at the church.Hoff Funeral Home’s – St. Charles Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
