Betty Ann (Billman) Johnson

Chatfield

Betty Ann Johnson, age 88, passed away peacefully 12/18/2020. She was born October 2nd, 1932 in Spring Valley, Minnesota, to Elmer and Anna(King)Billman.  Betty grew up in Spring Valley and graduated in 1950 from the Spring Valley, Minnesota High School. She married Harold Johnson on April 4th, 1954, together they spent 56 years raising their family in Chatfield.

Betty enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She loved her family and hosted many  family gatherings at her home. She loved to bake and always had goodies around when friends or family would stop by for a visit.

Betty enjoyed serving on committees and belonging to social clubs. She was a member of the Chatfield United Methodist church, belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, The Chatfield Women’s Community Club, Purple Passion Chicks Red Hat group and Royal Neighbors of America. She worked as an election judge for numerous elections in Chatfield for many years. She enjoyed being a part of the flower beautification projects also for Chatfield. As she enjoyed flowers so much she entered many flower projects in open class at the Fillmore county Fair. She worked as a home health aide for a while and then spent 14 years  working at the Chosen Valley High school as a cook.

Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harold, two brothers Larry (Janice) Billman and Donald Billman; her four children Mark(Nancy)Johnson, Steven Johnson, Sheryl Hulbert (Ken Paulson) and Timothy (Maureen) Johnson; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; and her many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Anna (King) Billman; three brothers, Gary, William and Robert Billman, and two sisters, Shirley Billman and Doris (Billman) Hoffman, also a daughter-in-law, Darlene (Rath) Johnson.

There will be a private family service at the Chatfield United Methodist Church , 124 Winona Street , held on 12/22/2020, with Pastor Debra Collum officiating. She will be put to rest after the church service at the Chatfield Cemetery. Betty was a very special and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be missed by many, especially her family. Blessed be her memory.
