Betty A. Nelson

Winona, MN Betty A. Nelson, 77, of Winona, MN, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Sauer Memorial Home. Betty was born April 19, 1932 in Winona, MN to Patrick and Rose (Adank) Mullen. She graduated from Winona Senior High School. In 1953 she married Jack Nelson and they lived in Winona all their lives. Betty worked for Choate's Department Store in Winona and also Camera Art in Lewiston. She enjoyed chocolate, playing cards, traveling to Las Vegas' Golden Nugget Casino to play Keno, and watching the Vikings. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband Jack Nelson of Winona; daughter Joni (Ted) Benson of Winona; two granddaughters, Morgan and Madison Benson; brother-in-law, Eugene Sobeck of Winona; and many special nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jayne Marie Nelson in 1972, and nine brothers and sisters, Cy, Al, Glen, Kenny, Bud, Kathleen, Virginia, Blanche, and Shirley. A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - Hansen Goodview Chapel with Funeral Celebrant Douglas Hansen. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11am at Hoff Funeral Home on Monday. Memorials are suggested at the Alzheimer's Association and/or Winona County Developmental Achievement Center (DAC).
