Bernice Stark

Bernice Mary Stark, 85, of Altura died Wednesday September 21, 2005 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. Bernice was born March 21, 1920 in Kellogg to John and Eleanor (Eischen) Leisen. She and Frank Stark were married May 4, 1948 in Elba and made their home in Altura. Bernice was a homemaker and raised her six children. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Lady's Aid. She also belonged to the Royal Neighbors of America. Bernice enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, sewing and caring for her house plants. Survivors include her husband, Frank, six children, Sherrie (Charles) Krenzke of St. Charles; Patricia (Rick) Plank of Faribault; Debra (Randy) Rusert of Utica; Randall (Cheryl) Stark of Altura; Darlene (Gary) Beckers of Altura and Dawn (Al Bartz) Stark of Bethany, 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren a brother Joe Leisen of St. Charles, six sisters, Eleanor "Tootie" (John) Henshaw of Aurora, CO; Leona Patzner of Sunnyvale, CA; Dorothy (Myrton) Stoos of Rollingstone; Rita Miller of Montrose, CO; Joanie (Dwight) Gavin of Bosser City, LA and Bonnie McMahon of Brainerd, MN. She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild and two brothers and one sister. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura with the Revs. James Callahan and Shaun Haremza concelebrating. Friends may call at St. Anthony Catholic Church from 5-8 PM Friday and one hour before services Saturday. Burial will follow services in St. Mary's Cemetery at Oak Ridge. A rosary will be recited at 8 PM Friday at the church. Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
