Rushford, MN Bernice Maye Johnson, 94, of Rushford, MN, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, MN. Bernice was born on April 9, 1915 in Fillmore County to John and Celia (Danielson) Muns. She grew up around the Money Creek and Choice areas. She attended Money Creek School. On January 10, 1935 Bernice married Harvey Johnson in rural Rushford. They lived in Mabel while Harvey was in the military. They then famed near Rushford. Bernice cleaned houses in Rushford and was a homemaker. She was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Bernice was also a Gold Star Mother, losing her son Jerry while serving our country. Bernice enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, dancing, listening to music and had a "green thumb." Bernice is survived by her four children, Yvonne (Marvin) Jonsgaard of Lewiston, MN; Marilyn Brand of Rushford, MN; Harold Johnson of Winona, MN; and Rosemarie (Peter Erickson) Morken of Peterson, MN, 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey in 1981, a stillborn infant, infant daughter Lorri Ann, son Jerry, granddaughter Rosemary, great-grandson Dylan, two brothers Myron and Kenny, sister Violet, and son-in-law Vernon. The Funeral Service for Bernice will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Rushford Lutheran Church with Intern Jan King officiating. Burial will follow at Choice Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 12 noon-2:00pm on Friday at the church.
