Bernice M. Streuber, 83, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Lake Winona Manor in Winona.Bernice was born April 6, 1927 in Winona to Eligius "Albert" and Frances (Wieczorek) Lilla. She married Raymond Streuber on August 16, 1952 in Winona. After graduating from Winona Senior High School, Bernice worked as a clerk at J.R. Watkins and JCPenney and as a receptionist at St. Anne Hospice. Bernice is lovingly remembered for her kindness and love of embroidery, reading, and the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, and in her youth, sang Polish hymns with the choir. Survivors include two sons, David (Trish) of Maricopa, AZ and Jay of Winona; grandson, Kurt (Tammia) of Washington; sister-in-law, Joyce Lilla; nephew, Tom (Linda) Lilla; three nieces, Debbie Lilla, Joanne Kleinschmidt, and Catherine Benning; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on December 24, 2009; two brothers, Edward and Chester Lilla, and one sister-in-law, Elayne Lilla. Private family services will be held with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Fenske and the staff at Lake Winona Manor for their wonderful care.
