Bernice Juella Hall, 96, formerly of Lanesboro and Zumbro Falls, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Rushford. Bernice was born in Lanesboro on April 21, 1915 to Peter and Lettie (Johnson) Ulvestad. After graduating from Lanesboro High School in 1932, she attended cosmetology school in Minneapolis. Her first job as a beautician was at Massey's in Rochester. Bernice was united in marriage to Milton Hall on June 15, 1946, at North Prairie Lutheran Church. They farmed for many years in Lanesboro.Bernice was the organist at North Prairie Church for a number of years and was active with the Ladies Aid. She was associated with the 4H, first as a youth participant and then as a leader. Bernice loved spending time with her family and friends. She was known to light up a room with her witty sense of humor and her engaging smile. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she had a close, loving relationship with each of them. Bernice had a green thumb with which she maintained beautiful gardens. She loved animals, and her Pomeranians were her joy. She was a talented musician who spent many hours at her organ and piano playing her favorite melodies. Bernice appreciated the care, love, and kindness given to her while living at Bremmer Suites and Good Shepherd Lutheran home. Bernice is survived by her son, Richard (Kristi) Hall of Rushford; grandchildren, Elissa Hall of Rochester, Jessica Hall of Sebastian, FL, and Jason Hall of Eagan; brother, Lester Ulvestad; brother-in-law, Curtis (Jean) Hall; sisters-in-law, Dorrie Baldwin, Elinor Abraham, and Mary Hall. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Hall; brother, Clifford Ulvestad; infant son, David Michael.The family suggests memorials be directed to Good Shepherd Nursing Home or North Prairie Lutheran Church.A memorial service will be scheduled for April at North Prairie Lutheran Church.Please share a memory of Bernice with the family, sign the online guestbook, and view her video tribute when it becomes available at www.hofffuneral.com.
