HOKAH, MINN. - Bernice Ender, 90, of Hokah, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Bernice was born on July 28, 1912, in Preston , Minn. to Charles and Esther (Wetchen) Berhndt. Her younger years were spent in the LaCrescent, Minn. area and after her marriage to Alden Ender on August 12, 1933, they resided at Hokah, Minn. Bernice was active in the Hokah United Methodist Church and helped her husband with his electrical business. Later she worked at the LaCrescent Nursing Home doing laundry and cleaning. In January of 2002, Bernice moved to an assisted living complex in Winona, Minn., and later transferred to the St. Charles Assisted living development in St. Charles, Minn. where she resided at the time of her death. Bernice is survived by two sisters: Marie Cook of LaCrescent, Minn. and Florence Larson of New Castle, Cal; two sisters-in-law: Adeline Savage of Frazee, Minn. and Peggy Ender of Wilmington, Del.; and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, and two sisters: Ruth Ender and Myrtle Whitfield. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday June 30, 2003, at the Hokah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lora Sturm officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Hokah. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the Church. Hoff Funeral Homes - St. Charles Chapel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
