Bernice Ellen Heim

St. Charles, Bernice Ellen Heim, 95, of St. Charles died Wednesday November 2, 2005 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. She was born January 28, 1910 in Winona County to Julius and Hulda (Brown) Ploetz. Bernice and Joseph Louis Heim were married on October 12, 1933 in Altura. They farmed north of St. Charles before moving to Fremont to farm in 1942. Joseph died July 10, 1967 and Bernice later moved in to St. Charles. She was a lifetime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of St. Charles and its' Ladies Aid. Bernice loved her garden, her flowers and her animals. She was proud to have lived on a farm most of her life. Survivors include three children, Robert (Rose) Heim of Dover; Joseph (Shirley) Heim of St. Charles and Barbara (Walter) Nahrgang of Altura, a daughter-in-law Carolynne Heim of Lewiston, 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son Alfred, a grandson Matthew Heim and four brothers. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow services in Hillside Cemetery at St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-9 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
