Bernett Cady , 86, of Winona, MN (formally of Peterson, MN) died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Winona Manor in Winona, MN after nearly a year long battle with cancer.Bernett was born May 24, 1925 in Winona, MN to Theodore and Ann Hengel. She was raised in Winona and graduated from Winona High School and Winona Secretarial School. On December 28, 1949 she married James (Jim) Cady in Winona, MN. Bernett was noted as an animal lover, exceptional cook and devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed decorating, entertaining her extended family on holidays and taking her grandchildren on camping trips in her motorhome. Bernett worked side by side with her husband, Jim, on their fish hatchery in rural Peterson, MN for many years. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rushford, MN.Bernett is survived by one daughter, Laura Cady of Winona, two sons, Bruce Cady of Bend, Oregon and Dan Cady of Winona; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Erik) Peterson of Duluth, MN, Miranda Cady (Adam Sickles) of Rushford, MN, Caryn Cady (Aaron Mackey) of Portland, OR, Bridget (Archibald) Thompson of Naperville, IL, Justin (Erin) Cady of Mankato, MN, Natalie Woodworth, Winona, MN and Elizabeth Cady of Mondovi, WI.; and four great grandchildren, Justice, Liberty and Grace Sickles of Sheldon, Iowa and Arthur Thompson of Naperville, ILBernett was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her daughter Lynn, her son, Michael and siblings Noreen (Robert) Jepson, Beverly (Charles) Brennan and Ralph (Jerry) Hengel.A private memorial service was held at Winona Manor Chapel. A celebration of Bernett's life for family and friends will be scheduled in June in Winona, MN
