Benny Hornsby

Benny Hornsby, age 86, of Winona, MN, died Thursday, January 9, 2025 at St. Anne Extended Health Care of heart failure.

Benny was born June 26, 1938, in Hurricane, WV, the son of Hubert and Roberta (Morrison) Hornsby. He honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Janet Christopherson on June 27, 1982 in Rochester, MN. Bo was a talented and self-taught artist and musician. His band was The Strangers, which played numerous parties, weddings, and celebrations throughout southeast Minnesota. Bo was the best uncle, and he loved spoiling his nieces and nephews with homemade fudge, slumber parties, and an abundance of love.

Benny is survived by his wife, Janet; children: Michelle (John) Armand-Le’day, Tony (Julie) Hornsby, and John (Jenny) Hornsby; grandchildren: Daniel Hornsby, Emma Hornsby, Madison Hornsby, and Freja Hornsby; and great-grandchildren: Easton, Drake, Gage, Jordyn, and Jaedan; 5 sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Hornsby; daughters-in-law Carletta Hornsby, and Sherry Hornsby.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
