RUSHFORD, MINN. ? Benard Ardell Lerol, 90 of Rushford, died on Thursday, October 11, 2007, at the Caledonia Care and Rehab. Benard was born on December 12, 1916, to Gunder and Annie (Thostinson) Lerol in Amherst Township of Fillmore County, Minn. On May 1, 1937, he married Alice Nordsving. The couple moved to a farm in Amherst Township where they lived and worked together on the same farm for 62 years. While farming he was treasurer for eight years for the Grubtown School and for six years for Amherst Township. After retiring he was an adjuster for the Crop Insurance Company for 15 years. He was a lifetime member of the First Lutheran Church of Highland. Benard is survived by his wife, Alice; two daughters: Beverly (Sidney) Aasum of Caledonia, Minn. and Rochelle (Orrin) Hegg of Prea, California; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Orris McIlwain of Beloit, Wis.; and many nieces nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Ernest, Tilford, and Lloyd; and one sister, Grace Christenson. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The funeral service for Benard will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, at First Lutheran Church of Highland with the Rev. Steve Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral Homes ? Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Church.
