Beatta Luella Saathoff, 90, a longtime St. Charles resident died Friday June 9th at St. Anthony Park Home in St. Paul. She was born September 8, 1915 in Thor, Iowa to Paul and Emma (Wessel) Richter. Beatta and John Saathoff were married on July 4, 1935 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. They moved to St. Charles to farm in 1953. The couple retired from farming in 1968 and in to St. Charles in 1978. John died October 6, 1991. Beatta recently moved to St. Anthony Park Home. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church here. Survivors include a son Theodore (Eileen) Saathoff of Walker, MN, three daughters, Margaret (Bill L.) Heim of St. Charles; Susan (Tom) Kyser of Cadott, WI and Christine (Charles) Grui of Lexington, MN, 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a sister Emma Johnson of Fort Dodge, IA. In addition to her husband, Beatta was preceded in death by a son Dennis, four brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery, rural St. Charles. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services on Saturday at the church.
