Barbra Lavonne Schaper

Houston, MN Barbra L. Schaper, 71, of Houston, MN, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Barbra was born on May 3, 1936 in Amboy, MN to LeRoy and Hanah (Aakre) Schaper. She graduated from Mankato High School and attended Mankato Business College to become a paralegal. She worked for Judge Baron in Mankato until moving to Houston where she worked for James A. Schultz & Associates. She then moved to LaCrosse and worked for the 139 Operators Union for almost 20 years until her retirement. Barbra then moved into an assisted living in LaCrosse before moving to Valley View Nursing Home in Houston, where she resided for the last five years. Barbra was a member of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston and part of the church WELCA and choir. She enjoyed going for rides around the countryside, her computer, was an avid reader, and loved watching movies and collecting angels. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her brother Leon (Cindy) Schaper of LaCresent, MN; sister Pat (John) Hyatt of Wichita, KS; two nephews, Greg and Jeff (Nicki) Hyatt; two great-nieces; aunt Mildred "Micki" Gulla of Fairmont, MN; and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, three aunts, and two uncles. The Funeral Service for Barbra will be held at 1:30PM on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Reverend Louise Stromberg officiating. Burial will follow at the Stone Church Cemetery in rural Houston. Friends may call from 11:30-1:30pm on Sunday at the church.
