Austin Maasjo

March 28, 1989 — March 11, 2025

Austin Maasjo, age of 35, of Lewiston, left us too soon on March 11, 2025. Born on March 28, 1989, in Bagley, MN, Austin was the beloved son of Dean and Robin Maasjo, growing up going on wild adventures with his sister, surrounded by love and laughter.

Austin found his soulmate in Bemidji, MN. Austin and Amanda shared 16 beautiful years together. A graduate of Bi-County CAP High School, he later continued his education at Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, where he honed his skills and passion for everything mechanical and technical.

Austin had a heart as big as his curiosity. He had an amazing knack for tinkering with things-taking them apart, occasionally putting them back together, "hoping" they worked. He wasn't just a guy with a love for engines and wheels; he was the guy who went snowmobiling with his dad, drove junkie cars, and rode his motorcycles on unforgettable adventures. He embraced every chance to climb a hill or explore nature. He cherished every animal he met and had a particular fondness for collecting and exchanging rocks, always eager to learn new things along the way. He loved all kinds of music and could play any musical instrument even though he couldn't read music.

Austin was known for his compassionate nature and empathetic spirit. He was the kind of person who would give his shirt off his back to help someone in need, and he made friends wherever he went. His family and friends will forever hold his memory in their hearts, remembering the laughter, kindness, and love he brought into their lives.

Austin is survived by the love of his life, Amanda; parents, Dean and Robin (Vicker) Maasjo; sister, Kathryn (Joe) Fisher; nephews, James Fisher and Tristen Fisher; paternal grandparents, Dennis (Becky Schroeder) Maasjo and Joyce (Jim) Ekern; maternal grandmother, Adeline Woolliscroft; Odd children, Murphy and Frances; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Sam Woolliscroft; and his step-grandfather, Alton Walker.

Rest easy, Austin. You will be missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone you touched.
