Lewiston, MN August D. Kukowski, Jr., 82, of Stockton, MN, died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Lewiston Villa Nursing Home in Lewiston, MN. August was born on December 18, 1925 in Beach, North Dakota to August and Rose (Konkel) Kukowski, Sr. When he was two years old their family moved to Wisconsin. On May 14, 1947, August married Orphie Kube in Arcadia, WI. August farmed with his father until moving to rural Lewiston (Hart Township) in 1953. He farmed there until Orphie and he moved to Stockton in 1991. Together they were members of the Lewiston Area Cancer Support Group for many years. August loved to play cards and visit with family and friends. He was the Steward of the Land and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. August is survived by his wife of 61 years, Orphie of Stockton, MN, seven children, Dennis (Debra) of Lewiston, MN; Donald (Vicky) of Chaska, MN; Dale (Linda) of Winona, MN; Randy (Cheryl) of Lewiston, MN; Rick of Bellingham, WA; Heide (Don Ressie) of Lewiston, MN; and Timothy (Kay) of Apple Valley, MN, 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita (Frank) Wieczorek of Fountain City, WI and Bea (Earl) Harkness of Winona, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and August Kukowski, four sisters, four brothers, and grandson Justin. The Funeral Service for August will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, November 10, 2008 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MN with the Reverend Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, November 9 from 4-8PM at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
