Arvin Max Mueske, 72, of St. Charles died Saturday December 20, 2008 in the Emergency room of St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. Arvin was born April 19, 1936 in Quincy Township of Olmsted County to Max and Mona (Conrad) Mueske. He attended country school and graduated from St. Charles High School before attending Winona State College for two years and graduating from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of science in Agronomy. After college he worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation and taught ballroom dance. He married Carol Mclimans in 1959 and they were later divorced. Arvin and Carol Christensen married June 15, 1985 in Rochester. In 1963 he returned to St. Charles and purchased a farm and raised crops and hogs. He also ran an agribusiness, selling and constructing farm buildings. He later sold drainage tile for Drainage Industries. In 1993 Arvin began planting apple trees and developed Whitewater Valley Orchard, selling apples and pies. He was an active member of St. Charles United Methodist Church, currently serving as chair of the church board of directors. He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves for several years. Arvin had been a member of St. Charles Jaycees, Moose Lodge and had served on the Farmers Market Board of Directors for four years. Survivors include his wife Carol, three children; Cindy (Greg Jenks) Mueske of St. Charles, Brian (Debra) Mueske of Rochester, Todd Mueske of St. Charles, three grandchildren; Heidi, Tessa and Nicholas, his mother Mona Mueske of Rochester, two brothers, Conrad (Donnis) Mueske of Coon Rapids, Dennis (Sue) Mueske of Rochester, a sister, Jan (Carol) Dennis of St. Charles and his mother-in-law Arlene Christensen of Redwood Falls, MN. He was preceded in death by his father Max. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at St. Charles United Methodist Church with The Reverend David Laechel officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
