Arthur Eugene Fratzke

Arthur Eugene Fratzke, 85, of Chatfield, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield, with Father Patrick Ahrens officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

Arthur Eugene Fratzke was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Winona to Art and Ann (Hittner) Fratzke. After graduating from Winona Senior High in 1945 he worked as a manager at the Winona Theatre. Later he became parts manager at C. Paul Venables Garage for nine years. In 1947 he married Louise Walch. He became a member of the Minnesota State Patrolman in 1957 and was assigned to the Rochester district. Art retired after 26 years as a patrolman.

He was a member of Minnesota Retired Peace Officer Association and St. Mary's Church. Art's greatest enjoyment was woodworking, fishing, playing cards and having coffee with the retired patrolmen and friends in Chatfield.

Survivors include his wife, Louise of Chatfield; one daughter, Debra (Tom) Halloran of Sun Lakes, Arizona; four sons, Mike (Kathy) of Winona, Jeff (Gayette) of Chatfield, Mark (Peggy) of Mankato and Greg (Michelle) of Rochester; 10 grandchildren, Jocelyn Fratzke, Jessie Fratzke, Jason Fratzke, Luke Fratzke, Matthew Hopkins, Marcus Hopkins, Garrett Fratzke, Graham Fratzke, Brett Fratzke and Cassara Fishbaugher; two step grandchildren, Michael Reichel and Scott Reichel; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marlene Lingenfelter.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Mayo Hospice or St. Mary's Catholic Church.
