Utica, Arthur F. "Pete" Boettcher, 83, of Utica died Tuesday June 7, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Pete was born November 13, 1921 in Elba to Rheinhold and Otillia (Page) Boettcher. As a young man he farmed and worked on thrashing crews. Pete served in the Army during WWII, fighting in the European theater. He and Florence Mielke were married on August 9, 1946 in Elba, where they made their home until moving to Utica in the 1953. Pete worked for Madison Silo of Winona for over 30 years. He later worked as a janitor at the St. Charles Elementary School. Florence died November 16, 1993. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Utica. Pete enjoyed playing cards, especially rummy, fishing, camping spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include five children, JoAnn (Paul) Lange; Jim Boettcher; and Sherry (Randy) Hahn all of Utica; Kathy (Tom) Koenig of Stockton and Sue (Mike) Sanders of Eyota, 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and four sisters, Marion (Harold) Bedtka of Dover; Pearl Braun of Rochester; Viola Ehlenfeldt of Elk River and Ruth Pfeil of Plainview. In addition to his wife Florence he was preceded in death by a son Ronald, a brother Norman and a sister Gertrude. Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Utica with the Rev. Tim Gerarden officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Utica.
