Arnold Harold Storm, 87, of rural St. Charles died Wednesday December 31, 2008 at Golden Living Center - Whitewater in St. Charles. Arnold was born April 18, 1921 in Wilson Township of Winona County to Jacob and Emma (Schwanbeck) Storm. He was confirmed at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Winona and went to East Burns Valley grade school. Arnold married Alice Franke on April 3, 1949 in Winona and they made their home in rural St. Charles. Farming was Arnold's occupation and in later years his hobby. He enjoyed working with his sheep and lambs in MN and tending his citrus grove in Estero, Florida, where the couple wintered since 1980. He was a very caring man and loved his family, who always came first. Arnold knew no strangers, only friends he had yet to meet. Arnold loved to dance. He and Alice were members of the "Whitewater Whirlers" square dance club for many years. He also belonged to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of St. Charles, Zion Lutheran Church of Ft. Myers, and the Purple Foot Wine Club. Arnold liked to travel, having traveled to Germany several times where his father was born and for his cousin's 50th Wedding Anniversary. Survivors include his wife Alice and nine children: Rev. Harold (Laura) Storm of Gaylord, MN; Rudolph Storm; David (Linda) Storm; Jacob (LuAnn) Storm all of Dover; Bradley (Cathy) Alturas, CA; Craig (Mary Ellen) Storm of Westby, WI; Larry (Mitzi) Storm of Winnemucca, NV; Tammi (Paul) Schweitzer of Estero, FL and NolaKay Kelm of River Falls, WI; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Arnold was preceeded in death by his parents and three sisters, Laurena Storm, Viola Bockenhauer, and Iles Peterson. Funeral Services for Arnold will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Monday.
