Arne Waldemar Mindrum

HOUSTONArne Waldemar Mindrum, 86 of Winona and formerly of Houston and La Crosse, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Arne was born February 12, 1929 in Rushford to Palmer and Margit (Landsverk) Mindrum. He graduated from Houston High School in 1946. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged. He then went to work for General Electric Company in Cincinnati, Ohio for 17 years as an Instrumentation Design Engineer. In 2010, Arne was inducted into the Cambridge Who's Who for designing a linear variable differential transformer for a jet engine. Arne is also featured in the book "Top 101 Experts Insights and Ideas to Inspire You". He later retired after working 17 years at Century Tel in La Crosse. Arne loved camping and traveling. He was active in Boy Scouts of America, Little League and was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. Arne was an ambitious man and was always very proud of his inventions. Arne is survived by his children, Linda (Joe) Silva of San Diego, CA, Greg (Lisa) Mindrum of Carson City, NV, Mark Mindrum of Casa Grande, AZ, Faith (Mike) Ready of Winona, Darin (Shelly) of Owatonna, MN, and Victoria (David) Brommerich of Winona; grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Andrea, Bethany, Melissa, Shane, Quinn, Makenna, Ashley, Zachary, Haley, Krista, Carson, and Owen; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Karsyn, Kamyle, Kenna, Kamryn, Ayden, and one on the way; siblings, Ellert, Ellen, and Frieda; many more nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; and siblings, Paul and Alf. A memorial service for Arne will take place 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Reverend Lane Zaffke officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Arne will be laid to rest at Stone Church Cemetery in Houston.
