St. CharlesArlo Max Splittstoesser "Splitts", 72 of St. Charles, died, Monday, August 30, 2010 at Season's Hospice House in Rochester.He was born January 27, 1938 to Leland and Maxine (Green) Splittstoesser in St. Charles. He graduated from St. Charles High School and worked in the feed & livestock business for 51 years. He married Chris Loftus on March 27, 1971 at the St. Charles United Church of Christ. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and a former member of the Winona County Pork Producers and the St. Charles Moose Lodge. Arlo enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Most of all he loved the stories and conversation that were part of the hunting, fishing and camping. Arlo had a very gentle spirit that his family will always remember.He is survived by his wife, Chris; children, Tammy (Joe) Haack of Rochester, Scott (Shelly) of Minneiska, Shelley (Shane) Winsor of Johnsonville, SC, and David of Rochester; grandchildren, Adam (Schanelle) Hansen and their children, Addison & Nora, Alexa Splittstoesser, Nicole Splittstoesser, Hayden Winsor, Emily Winsor, Chase Splittstoesser, Rylie Splittstoesser and Allie Splittstoesser; brothers, Darrel (Agnes) of Stewartville and Vernon of Powell, OH.He was preceded in death by a son, Mike Splittstoesser.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Steve McGinley officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Friday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in St. Charles and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Per Arlo's wishes, his body was donated to the Mayo Clinic. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
