Dover, Arlis "Sonny" Trogstad, 78, of Chatfield and formerly of Dover died Monday, November 18th at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born June 21, 1935 in Chatfield to Bennie and Millie (Soland) Trogstad and graduated from Chatfield High School. Arlis served in the Army from 1954-56, stationed in Europe. He married Mary Peterson and they later divorced. Arlis worked for IBM and farmed near Chatfield. Recently he drove school bus for Dover-Eyota and Chatfield School Districts. Sonny enjoyed shaking dice with the guys at Eyota Café. He also enjoyed spending time with Maxine, his grandchildren, and grand-puppies. His hobbies include going to auctions, family animals, and playing a few pull tabs. In his younger days, he was quite a dancer. Survivors include his three children; Steve Trogstad of Chatfield, Sue Trogstad (Dale Roseboom) of Rochester and Sandra (Mike) Pasche of Altura, his girlfriend Maxine Anderson of Chatfield and her daughter Sue (Jeff) Moechnig of Chatfield, six grandchildren; Mike, Jake, Danielle & Ryan Trogstad, Kendra and Tyler Moechnig, one great-grandchild Gabriella, and a brother Elmer Trogstad of Chatfield. He was preceded in death by a son, Sheldon "Skip", four brothers; Lester, Edne, Orville and Norman and five sisters; Ethel Becker, Millie Jacobson, Roxie Olson, Ollie Thorson and Betty Rain. Services to celebrate Arlis' life will be 11 AM Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Steven McGinley of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. A reception will follow the service. Burial will be in Pilot Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Thursday and one hour before services Friday at Hoff Funeral Service. The Chatfield Veterans of Foreign War Post will present military graveside honors.
