Utica, Arline Harmon, 92, of rural Utica died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. Arline was born June 5, 1916 in Cadott, WI to Chester C. and Ida (Margroff) Shank. She and Herbert Harmon were married December 20, 1942 at Camp Stewart, GA. During WWII Arline worked as a 'Rosie the Riveter' assembling airplane wings in Akron, Ohio. Following the war they farmed south of Altura, north of Dover and in 1950 moved to Saratoga Township to farm. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles and was active in church circle and quilting. Arline enjoyed family, gardening and quilting. Survivors include three children: Jeanette (Gerald) Thomas of Hale, MI; Leroy (Pauline) Harmon of Coon Rapids and Craig Harmon of Utica, seven grandchildren; Bradley (Aisha) Thomas, Christopher (Jamie) Thomas, Jane (Jason) Dick, Scott and Peter Harmon, Joel (Angela) Harmon and Jeremy (Staci) Harmon, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Marie Balcome of St. Charles and Peggy Shank of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by; her husband Herbert on January 27, 2002, an infant daughter Gail, a son Gary, three brothers; Clarence, Ralph and Carl Shank, two sisters Ruth Heape and Grace Lower. Funeral Services will be 2PM Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Steve McGinley officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
