Ardis Sylvern Helland, age 98 of Lewiston, died peacefully at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on June 26th, 2021.
Ardis was born on February 14, 1923 in Joice, Iowa to Martin and Ada (Nelson) Bang. She was united in marriage to Amos Helland on November 21, 1942 in Worth County, Iowa. Together they were blessed with two sons.
Ardis spent her life as a homemaker and enjoyed every moment of it. She was an excellent chef having secret recipes for scalloped corn, three bean casserole, and sweet pancakes. She was 4-H leader for 15 years and was in a garden club for many years. She was a devoted member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid, Dorcas Society, and was a Sunday School Teacher. Ardis had an incredible sense of humor that kept people on their toes. She treasured her time spent with family and cherished quiet moments in her faith.
Ardis is survived by her son, Lon (Sue) Helland of Eau Claire, WI; daughter-in-law, Carol Helland of Frederic, WI; granddaughter, Lisa (Scott) Meyer; grandsons, Tony (Melinda Jo Weber) Harback, Luke (Mary Jo) Helland, Tim (Andrea) Helland, and Luther (La Ronda) Helland; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; twin brothers, Darrell (Marilyn) Bang and Darwin (Thelma) Bang; and many other relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Helland; son, Nelson; her parents, Martin and Ada Bang; brothers, Roger and Wayne Bang; sister, Hazel Munson; and great-grandson, Xavier Meyer.
A Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Ardis will be laid to rest in the Lewiston Public Cemetery. The family requests no flowers but encourages memorials made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Hoff Funeral Home - Lewiston is assisting the family with arrangements.
