HOUSTON, MINN. - Arden F. Unnasch, 86, of Houston died on Monday, December 1, 2008, at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab Center in Houston. Arden was born on November 7, 1922, at South Ridge in Houston County, Minn. to Fred and Minnie (Thompson) Unnasch. He was raised at South Ridge where he worked on the farm with his father for many years. On August 10, 1946, Arden was united in marriage with Charlotte Kappauf in LaCrescent, Minn. He worked for the Nelson Food Store, Webster Lumber Company, Lauren VonMoos, and most recently at Money Creek Haven, where he retired. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, bird watching, playing cards, and his pet cats. He was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. Arden is survived by his wife, Charlotte; three daughters: Charlene Botcher, Sheryl Sherry, and Carol Meeks, all of Houston; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Eleanor (Ed) Steinfeldt of Winona, Minn., and Geraldine Steinfeldt of Houston; one brother-in-law, Art Erdmann of LaCrescent, Minn.; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, one brother, and one son-in-law, Jim Meeks. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial will be in the Money Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
