Anton "Andy" Ludwig Petersen

Anton “Andy” Ludwig Petersen, 83, of Chatfield, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.

Anton was born May 12, 1931 in New York City to Martin J. & Teresa (Kucera) Petersen.  He attended school in New York and worked with his father as a butcher. He also did some musical performances in New York as a singer.    He served in the United States Naval Reserve.   In 1962 he married Sally Schwersinske and moved to Rochester.   The couple made their home in the Country Club Manor neighborhood and he later began working as a butcher at Ye Olde Butcher Shoppe when it first opened.   He was later divorced and stayed in Rochester where he spent his time baking bread and walking all over Rochester to sell it.  He was fondly remembered by many as "Andy, the bread man".   In 2006 he moved to Chatfield where he enjoyed going on walks and working at Skippy's as a greeter.

In his early retirement years he traveled extensively throughout Europe with his son Daniel.  He also enjoyed going on cruises with his friend Marceline Erickson.

Anton is survived by his daughter Sue (Don) Johnson of Chatfield, son Anton (Linda) Petersen II of Richfield, three grandchildren Kyle Johnson, Garrett Johnson, & Megan Petersen and many nieces and nephews. His former wife Sally Oviatt, of Rochester also survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Daniel, brothers Marty & Charlie, and a sister Maria.

Anton will be remembered with a funeral service at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 1st, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, with Pastor Mark Evinger officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
