Anita Louise (Hermundson) Ruff, 85, died peacefullly at home on April 20, 2018. After a 10-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease, she is now free to be herself. She was born on July 8, 1932 in Nelson, WI to Anton and Louise (Peterson) Hermundson. On June 6, 1953, she and Junior G. Ruff were married at Lyster Lutheran Church. They lived in Winona where they started a family and she began her career as a Tupperware dealer and manager. They later moved to their home on the Great River Road in Fountain City where they loved to watch the river and the eagles. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Junior; baby daughter, Paula; brother, Delbert Hermundson; sisters, Irene Johnson, Luella McRoberts and Charlotte Kasenow and their spouses. She is survived by children, Kris (Lou) Gernes of Coon Rapids; Brad Ruff and Leslie Ruff, both of Winona; grandchildren, Katy (Eric) Potthoff of Ham Lake, Adam (Maranda) Gernes of Champlin, Miranda Ruff (fiance Sean Cloutier) of Stewartville, Sean (Lola) Ruff of Altoona, Max Ruff, Alex Ruff, Justin Ruff, Zachary Ruff, all of Winona and 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Jeanette Ruff of Alma and brother-in-law, Lambert (Marlene) Ruff of El Dorado Hills, CA. Many thanks to the caring staff of Winona Hospice. Memorials preferred to Central Lutheran Church in Winona or the Alzheimer's Association. The memorial service for Anita will be on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service.
