Alvin Walter SchwiederMarch 9, 1925-December 19, 2011Alvin W. "Bud" Schwieder, 86, of Utica died Monday, December 19, 2011 at St-Mary's Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness. Bud was born March 9, 1925 to Walter and Lydia (Wendland) Schwieder in Utica, MN. He attended the Utica Grade School and graduated from St. Charles High School. He lived and farmed with his parents until one year after high school when he joined the Army during WWII. Al served as a Sergeant on the Island of Okinawa near Japan.He married Beverly Seifert on Sept 23, 1949 in Utica, MN where they made their home farming and raising four children. Bud enjoyed Walleye fishing, turkey and deer hunting, pontooning on the Mississippi River, spending time with friends at the Golden Horn (Harvest) restaurant, and most especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Charles American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War Posts.Survivors include a daughter Sandy (Gene) Sturgis of Winter Haven FL, a son Scott (Christiane) of Utica, 10 grand children, 6 great-grand children, two daughters-in -law Ann Schwieder of St. Charles and Sue Thisius of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, 2 sons Rodney and Gary and his parents. A Celebration of Bud's life will be at 2PM Thursday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles with the Reverend James Callahan officiating. Burial of Bud's cremated body will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Utica. Friends may call from noon until time of services at the funeral home on Thursday.
