Alvin N. Mueller, 85, of St. Charles died Saturday September 29, 2007 at his home. Alvin was born June 25, 1922 in Elba Township of Winona County to Alois and Mathilda (Putzier) Mueller. On June 14, 1951 Alvin and Alice Jean Hammer were married in Altura. The couple farmed in the St. Charles area for many years. In 1968 Alvin began grading roads. He operated a grader many years for Quincy Township, later grading for various contractors and area race tracks. Alvin enjoyed playing cards, dancing, hunting, tinkering in his shop, snowmobiling and going to races. He loved being around kids. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Elba Snowbirds, Whitewater Sportsmen Club, St. Charles Moose Lodge, St. Aloysius Catholic Aid and St. Charles Senior Citizen group. Survivors include his wife Alice Jean, five children; Jane (Jerry) Gervais of Arlington Heights, IL, John Mueller of St. Charles, Dorothy (Steve) Sinn of St. Charles, Tom (Linda) Mueller of St. Charles and Beth Mueller of Rochester, eight grandchildren; Brent Sinn, Sarah (Lance) Boyum, Keith (Magda), Megan and Sam Mueller and Katie, Kirsten and Dane Mueller, a great grandson Caden Boyum, two brothers, Ray (Marcella) Mueller and Edward )Joann) Mueller both of St. Charles, six sisters; Irene (John) Decker of St. Charles, Janet (Bernard) Wegman of St. Charles, Rita (George) Haag of Altura, Cecile (Walter) Schmidt of Dover , Rose Struckman of Eyota and Margaret Mundt of St. Charles, a sister-in-law Elinor Mueller of St. Charles and a brother-in-law Skip Knoll of Elgin. He was preceded in death by two brothers Joe and Everett and a sister Emily. A Funeral Mass will be at 2PM Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Elba.
