Alvin Emil Dorn

Lewiston, MN Alvin Emil Dorn, 98, formerly of Plainview, MN, died Monday, February 26, 2007 at Lewiston Villa Nursing Home in Lewiston, MN. Alvin was born on October 19, 1908 to August and Amanda (Kastner) Dorn in Lewiston, MN. He attended parochial school in Lewiston and worked on the family farm near Lewiston until 1944 at which time he married Esther Kempfert. Together they moved near Plainview and began farming. Alvin retired in 1974 and then moved into Plainview. Esther died in 1979. On June 26, 1983 Alvin married Lillian Langum Johnson in Plainview. She died in May of 2004. Alvin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview where he served on the church board of finance for many years. He was also a member of the Plainview Senior Citizens Center. For the last 5 years he has been a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston. Alvin's hobbies included woodworking, fishing, crafting, and making grandfather clocks. He is survived by two brothers, Edgar (Doris) Dorn and Raymond (Marcella) Dorn both of Lewiston, MN; one sister, Selma Arsnow of Lewiston, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Alvin is preceded in death by his wives, Esther and Lillian, and three sisters. The Funeral Service for Alvin will be at 11:00AM on Friday, March 2, 2007 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MN with Pastor David A. Fischer and Pastor Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview, MN. Friends may call from 10-11AM on Friday at the church.
