Alvin H. Ellinghuysen, 82, or rural Winona died Tuesday morning September 9, 2008 at his daughters home in rural Wabasha. Alvin was born November 6, 1925 in Hillsdale Township of Winona County to John and Thekla (Zimmerman) Ellinghuysen. He married Betty Connaughty on October 27, 1944 at Silo. The couple farmed in Hillsdale Township. Alvin also worked for Madison Silo for 22 years and worked for DHIA as a field representative for 18 years.He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo and was active in the Men's Club, Church Choir and various church boards.Survivors include his wife, Betty, nine children; Diane Borzyskowski of Lewiston, Steven (Judy) Ellinghuysen of Altura, Sheryl (Arthur) Lotz of Hokah, Nancy (Larry) Greden of Altura, Denise (Joe) Heublein of Altura, Robert (Lorrie Rinn) Ellinghuysen of Winona, Laurie O'Hara (Stephen Wheeler) of Stockton, Peggy (Tom) Wolner of Red Wing and Jodi (John) Bulman of Oronoco, 24 grandchildren, 43 great - grandchildren a sister Ruth Marking of Schuyler, NE and a brother Ruben (LeAnne) Ellinghuysen Winona. He was preceded in death by a sister Helen Bonow. Funeral Services will be at 10:30am Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church - Silo in rural Lewiston with The Reverend William Meilner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:30 - 8 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home in Lewiston. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
