Allyn John Smokey

Allyn John Smokey, 42, died Friday, December 26, 2008, at Winona Community Memorial hospital in Winona, MN. Al was born June 18, 1966, in Winona, MN, to James and Nancy (Alfaro) Smokey. Al attended Winona Senior High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Debbie Scott. Al and Debbie were married on October 15, 1994 in Winona, MN. From this love their two children were born, Aaryn and Kylie. Al enjoyed being a father and loved being a kid himself when it came time to play with his kids. Al began working as a mechanic at the Engine Store. From there his passion for auto mechanics led him to work for Underdahl Chevrolet and most recently Angst Motor Service. Al's ability in auto mechanics matched a favorite past time, stock car racing. Al was a member of the Huebner Racing Team, car 95, which races at the Tri Oval Speedway. Al loved to spend time with his family and friends, having a couple of beers while watching a Vikings game, having a barbeque or a campfire. Al is lovingly remembered for his willingness to extend that helping hand, whether it had a wrench in it or not.Survivors include his wife, Debbie; his two children, Aaryn and Kylie; his father, James (Kathy) Smokey of Winona, MN; his mother, Nancy (Art) Bohlsen of Winona, MN; brother, Dave (Mary) Smokey of Madison, WI; maternal grandmother, Alice Morphew of Winona, MN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at 11:00am at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Goodview Chapel.
