Lewiston, Allyn E. "Big Al" Schossow, 80, of Lewiston died Thursday October 2, 2008 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital. Allyn was born October 9, 1927 in Wilson Township of Winona County. He and Shirley Cummings were married February 7, 1948 at Wilson. The couple made their home in Winona for a few years before moving to Lewiston to make their home. Allyn worked for Swift Company in Winona, Taverna Barber and Beauty Supply. In Lewiston he owned and operated Quality Electronics, later working as custodian and shop teacher at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran School until retiring. Allyn enjoyed woodworking and collecting model cars. Survivors include his wife Shirley, six sons; Harold (Bonnie) of Perham, Paul (Sheryl) of Wauchula, FL, Richard (Arlene) of Longville, MN, David (Becky) of Detroit Lakes, Scott of Chicago and Todd of Chicago, four daughters, Penny (Tom) Kessler of Lewiston, Lisa (Michael) Stangler of St. Charles, Susan (Steven) Halter of Rochester and Karen (Jeffrey) Paschke of Kasson, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a brother Wilfred (Gladys) Schossow of Rushford. He was preceded in death by a son Dennis, a granddaughter Brooke and a great-grandson Logan. Funeral Services will be 11AM Monday at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston with the Reverends David A. Fischer and Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 PM Sunday at Hoff Funeral Home in Lewiston. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Monday.
