Allen William Peterson

Allen William Peterson, 77, of Lewiston died from complications of cancer on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Gundersen Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI surrounded by his family. Born to Ludwig and Martha (Neumann) Peterson on July 16, 1928 in Ridgeway. He married Donna Boynton on March 26, 1952; they were blessed with four sons. The couple farmed until 1976 when he purchased the Lewiston Locker, now known as Pete's Meats. His wife Donna died July 3, 1978. Allen and Eloise (Redmann) Ballard were married July 21, 1979. After selling Pete's Meats, Allen drove for McNeilius Trucks of Dodge Center and Run Automotive of Winona. Allen was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston, and was a past member of the church choir and trustees. He also belonged to the Lewiston Lions Club, was a sponsor for Pete's Meat's Softball, member of the Lewiston Bowling Hall of Fame, Lewiston Days 'Brother of the Brush' (1963 Centennial and 1988 125th Anniversary). He was an avid fisherman, hunter, tractor puller, bowler and card player. He also enjoyed camping, making his famous oyster stew and telling great stories. Allen loved watching his children and grandchildren in sporting events. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, great sense of humor and warm heart. Survivors include his wife Eloise, four sons; Alan "Ron" (Michelle), Kenneth (Karin), Larry (Cindy) and Robert "Bob" (Dorothea, "Dodie") all of Lewiston, step children, Greg (Jani) Ballard of Minnesota City; Brad (Sherri) Ballard of Winona, Sherri (Bob) Lundstrom of Plymouth and Gary (Angela) Ballard of Pilot Point, TX, grandchildren: David (Tamara), Brandy, Hunter, Krista, Keri (Chaun Wahlund), Travis (fiancee-Nicole Lynch), Tyler, Trisha, Leah and Kayla Peterson, step grandchildren; Allen (Debbie) Kronebusch, Joe and Amy Ballard, Andrea, Jennifer and Eric Lundstrom, Amalia and Victoria Ballard, great-grandchildren; Abby, Madison, Tiarah Peterson and Candyce Wahlund, step great-grandchildren, Carissa, Alex and Ethan and a sister Eunice Baer of Utica. He was preceded in death by eight sisters; Alpha Rinn, Glennis Wondrow, Martha Tollefson, Mable Schneurer, Jeanette Thurston, Hilda Ziemer, Lila Schueler and an infant sister. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; Leon, Laverne and Howard. Funeral Services will be 11AM Monday at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston with the Revs. Michael A. Lindemann and David A. Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at St. John's Lutheran Church from 4-8 PM Sunday and one hour before the services on Monday.
