Allen Rostad, 84, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Allen was born April 22, 1923, in Yucatan, MN to Nels and Olena (Elliason) Rostad. Allen served in the U. S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. He married Mireille "Mary" Brouillard on March 16, 1946 in Brussels, Belgium. Allen was an appliance technician and worked for the Hardware Store in Houston for 31 years. He also had his own business, Rostad Home Repair. Allen was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston and a 60 year member of the American Legion in Houston. Allen was a lover of all animals who had the compassion to rescue many stray cats and enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels. Allen also enjoyed fishing and was an avid baseball fan, especially following the St. Louis Cardinals.Survivors include his wife, Mary; three children, Andre (Barbara) Rostad of LaCrescent, MN, Denise Rostad of Platteville, WI and Kim Rostad of LaCrosse, WI; three grandchildren, Aimee (Pat) Miles, Kelly (Luke) Wachewitcz and Andrew Rostad; great grandson, Bradey Miles; sister, Leona Winjum of Spring Grove, MN; and brother, Sidney (Laura) Rostad of Houston, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Pearl and Viola, and four brothers, Julius, Carl, Miner and Leo.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 11:00am at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Reverends Lane Zaffke and Louise Stromberg officiating. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Hoff Funeral Homes ?
