Allen Oris Sanden, 94, of Houston, peacefully passed away, Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Lacrosse. He was born on April 3, 1922 to Thor and Amanda (Gustafson) Sanden. On January 20, 1943, Allen married Bonnie Jean and together had 6 children. Born and raised in Houston, Allen loved his farm and was a member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO). In addition to being a farmer, he drove school bus for 32 and a half years, was a morman feed salesman for 15 years, and worked at BP for 12 years before he finally retired at the age of 89. Allen was a hard worker but also enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards and dancing. Allen is survived by his children, Jeanne Allene (Peter) Johnson, Gary Allen (Janie) Sanden, Dennis (Ione) Sanden, Cheryl Ann Sanden, and Steve (Beth) Sanden; 9 grandchildren, Daniel Allen (Deanne), Darin (Stephanie), Dean & Angela Johnson, Shanon (Dan) Bills, Brett Allen Sanden, Travis (Monica) Dikeman; Teesh (Ken) Vix, Steve (Tomala) Freund; 13 great-grandchildren; Taylor, Danielle, Trenton Allen & Triston Johnson, William Johnson, Mason, Molly & Mikey Allen Bills, Elodie Dikeman, Amber & Joshua Allen Vix, Ethan & Mara Freund, 2 great-great-grandchildren, Cameron Johnson & Colton Allen Ingram; sister, Sigie Voshart; and a special family friend, Johnny B. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean; daughter, Debbie; and siblings, Gladen Sanden, Mavis Hendrickson, Ila Schild, and Vilas Loken. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, with Reverend Jan King officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday, both at the church. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery. Hoff Funeral and Cremation Services, Houston, is assisting the family.
