Rollingstone, Alice Virginia Neumann, 85, of rural Rollingstone died Sunday May 27th at Speltz Estates Assisted Living in Lewiston. Alice was born September 3, 1926 in Ettrick, WI to Ross and Rose (Burns) Van Riper. She was baptized and confirmed at South Beaver Creek Church near Ettrick. As a young lady she moved to Altura where she worked for Altura Turkey Plant and the Hilke and Brosig families. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1945. Alice and Henry "Hank" Neumann were married on November 27, 1947. They farmed south east of Altura where Alice took pride as she worked with Hank clearing the woods and laying out contours. She loved to dance, listen to old tyme music and enjoyed home cooking, canning, freezing and gardening. We will never forget the endless hours she put in to the 4th of July birthday picnics; all the good foods, softball and water fights. Her familiar "Here's a sample. Taste this. I tried a new recipe...from various farm papers." Will be sadly missed, as grandma was a great cook. Alice was a member of Jehovah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altura and past member of the Ladies Aid and church choir. She had also been active in the P.T.A. Survivors include three children; Jack (Sandy) Neumann of Altura, Roxann Anderson of Altura and Kimberly (Kim) Pronchinske of Rollingstone, seven grandchildren and their families; Derek (Annie) Neumann and their children, Jonathan Henry and Emma Louise; Scott (Tiffany) Anderson and their children, Tanner and Cooper; Annabelle, Clayton Daniel, Adreanna, Gage and Autumn Rose Pronchinske, three sisters; Myrtle Jerome of Ettrick, WI, Gladys Lancaster of Afton, WY and Sharon Taylor of Ettrick, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband Hank on October 8, 2008, two sons, Henry Dan and Clayton Scott, four brothers Richard, Roy, Russell and Ronnie, four sisters, Frances, Mary, Delores and Irene. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at Jehovah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altura with the Reverend Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
