RUSHFORD, MN - Alice M. Scattum, 98, of Rushford, MN died on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Alice was born in Pine Creek Valley (rural Rushford) MN, October 13, 1921, to Arthur and Mabel (Jonsgaard) Langord. She was raised in Pine Creek Valley and attended Pine Creek School. On January 17, 1942, at the onset of World War II, Alice married Arthur Henry Scattum. Art on violin, Alice on accordion and singing with sister Norma, they performed for barn dances and other social gatherings throughout the area. She also enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, and sewing. Working and making many friends as a clerk in Jaastad's Hardware store in Rushford, Alice was also valued for her skills painting and papering many area homes.
Alice is survived by four children: David Scattum, Steve Scattum, Kevin (Leela) Scattum, and Wanda (Bob) Sherwood; seven grandchildren: Brent, Bronwen, Rachel, KayCee, Alicia, Tyler and Patrick; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sister, Norma and a brother, Ervin.
There will be a funeral service for Alice at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Rushford Lutheran Church (101 South Mill Street) with the Reverend Steve Chellew officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service (780 North Mill Street) in Rushford and one hour prior to the service at the church.
