Alice Emma Tollefson, 100 of St. Charles, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Alice was born September 11, 1912 in Clyde Township to Albert & Lena (Olson) Schoolcraft. She graduated from St. Charles High School and began working for Carl Fisher. Alice loved attending dances, which is where she met Luther "Lux" Tollefson. They were married December 20, 1940, in Iowa and continued going dancing throughout their life. Alice and Lux purchased the Texaco Station in St. Charles, which they ran for many years. She also worked at Kramer's clothing store during her retirement years. Following retirement, the couple spent time traveling in their R.V., many times heading south for the winter. Alice was a member of the St. Charles United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had a great love for the outdoors and gardening; she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, word puzzles and following the Minnesota Twins. She celebrated her 100th birthday this past September with many of her friends and family.Alice is survived by four daughters, Pat (George) Putzier, Shirley Johnson, Lou Tollefson and Helen Tollefson; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lux; daughter, Dorothy Molde; grandson, Michael Johnson; and brother, Clarence Schoolcraft.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Heather E. Klason officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service.
