Alice M. Elliott, 86, of Chatfield, MN passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN after a brief illness.
Alice Marie Waadevig was born on March 3, 1935, to Gilmer and Julia (Brunner) Waadevig in the Rushford, MN. Alice attended a country school thru 6th grade and assisted taking care of her younger siblings.
Alice worked at the Chatfield Dry Cleaners for many years until it closed. She was also a talented seamstress for Lavel Clothing in Chatfield for many years. She worked for the Chosen Valley Care Center as a housekeeper until her retirement. Alice did clothing alterations and sewing for many of her friends and family throughout the years.
On May 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to Orval L. Elliott in Preston at St. Columban’s Catholic Church. They were married for 55 years and initially lived in Preston and later moved to Chatfield for their entire marriage. They were blessed with three children: David, Michael and James.
Alice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield, MN and her and Orval cleaned the parsonage for many years.
Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, going up-north fishing with her family, sewing, knitting, crocheting, needle work and any type of crafts. She loved attending school or sporting events for many years. Her and Orval were avid Chatfield Gopher baseball fans.
Alice is survived by two sons, Michael (Cecelia) of Chatfield and James (DeAnn) of Stewartville; four grandchildren: Amanda Elliott of Maplewood, MN, Stefani (Charles) Capron of Rochester, MN, Joshua (Hannah) Blenkush Elliott of Seattle, WA and Ashlyn Elliott of Ostrander, MN; two great grandchildren Brody and Sophie who she adored; sister, Mary Danielson of Lakeville, MN. She is preceded in death by her husband Orval and a son, David; her parents; brother Glen Waadevig and sister Mildred Elliott.
Funeral Mass for Alice will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Chatfield with Father McGrath officiating. Visitation will be from 9 – 10:30 a.m. before the service at the church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Chosen Valley Care Center.
