Alice Alvina Selke Morphew, age 93, of Winona, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Sauer Health Care, Winona, MN, surrounded by her loving family.Alice was born September 1, 1919, in Richmond Twp., Winona County, daughter of Paul and Leila Selke. Alice earned a degree in bookkeeping in 1952 at Corpus Christi Business College, and Winona Area Technical School in 1969 in Winona, and worked as a bookkeeper in both Texas and Winona. She worked at Fiberite, Lake Center Switch, and Land O'Lakes in Winona. Alice was one of the first women in Winona to work at the foundry when the men left for World War II. She was a member of TOPS and Widows Club. Alice especially enjoyed her family, flowers, baking, traveling, and her spunky cat, "Kitty."Survivors include her children: Bonnnie (Ken) Gleesing of Shawano, WI; Rick (Jenny) Alfaro, Nancy (Art) Bohlsen, and Linda (Vern) Thill, all of Winona; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Myrtle Denzer of Winona, and many nephews and nieces. Alice was preceded in death by her hubsands, parents, one brother, four sisters, and one grandson, Allyn Smokey. Private family services are being planned. Interment will be at Hiler Cemetery, Nodine, MN.In lieu of floral tributes, the family prefers that memorials be made to the Winona County Humane Society, Winona, MN.The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Sauer Health Care for the excellent compassion and care Alice received.Mom: You accepted all of life's challenges with dignity and respect.
