Alfred Pieper

Dover, MN Alfred H. Pieper, 93, of rural Dover died Saturday morning August 20, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness. Alfred was born June 30, 1912 in Town of Cross, Buffalo County, WI to Albert and Louisa (Bade) Pieper. He married Mary Patzner on April 18, 1933 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fountain City, WI. In 1942 the couple moved from Fountain City, WI to Dover, MN where they farmed until moving to Winona in 1980. Mary died January 31, 1992. In 1994 he returned to his farm south of Dover. He enjoyed farming, visiting with family and friends, music and dancing. Survivors include six sons, Leonard (Rose) of Cornell, WI; Donald of Fall Creek, WI; Gerald (Mary Beth) of Ellsworth, WI; Junior (Judy) of Cochrane, WI; Tom (Joanie) of Augusta, WI; and Kevin (Jamie) of Chanhassen; eight daughters, Jane (Duane) Hinrichs of Zumbrota; Joan (Donald) Yankowiak of Claremont; Marjorie (Archie) Asleson of Rochester; Jan (Jim) Halfman of Byron; Fran (John) Grebin of Mazon, IL; Mary Pieper of Minneapolis; Susan (Lyman) Kurth of Utica and Judie (Dennis) Van Keulen of Rogers, 64 grandchildren and 92 great-grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by a daughter Genevieve, grandchildren, Michael, Chad and Elizabeth, one great-granddaughter, three brothers: Harry, Roy and Franklin, and three sisters; Emma Roffler, Mabel Wachholz and Belva Ruege. There will be a Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fountain City, WI. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday and from 10- 11:30 AM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel.
