Albert William Block, 93 of Winona died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Lake Winona Manor.Albert was born May 12, 1920 in Stockton to Ben and Amanda (Richter) Block. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1945, receiving a Purple Heart for his service in Normandy. On May 12, 1951 he was united in marriage to Beverly Wanek in Winona. Albert worked at Federal Bakery for 25 + years until it closed. He then began working at Badger Equipment Co. until his retirement. Albert was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, the American Legion and the VFW.Albert was an "inventor," he could build and fix anything and loved doing it. He also was a joke teller, was incredibly generous and his family meant the world to him. He is survived by his wife, Beverly of 62 years; three sons, Michael (Beverly), Rick (Debbie) and Allen (Annie) all of Winona; one grandson, Ryan Block; four step-grandchildren, Alan (Lori) Bautch, Kim Trainor, Shane (Tiffany) Bautch and Bob (Cindy) Bautch; six step great-grandchildren; siblings, Millie (Chuck) Richter, Margaret Schumann, Elsie Heim, Ted Block, Bob (Arlene) Block and Elmer (Joanne) Block; and many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Martha Perry and Minnie Wright.Funeral Service will be 5 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2014 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview with Reverend Pamela J. Gnagy officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
