Alan Ray Rainey, born December 23, 1952 in Story County Hospital, Nevada, Iowa. Upon graduation from St. Charles High School in 1971, Alan enlisted in the Navy. An accident interrupted his dreams of a Naval career and he received an Honorable Discharge. He was a member of the American Legion. On May 17, 2007 in a public ceremony commemorating private vows made in 1988, Alan Rainey and Alicia Iovinella wed. In to this union came Michael and Adam Rainey, and Kiersten, Justin, Jordan and Jarrett Iovinella. Alan dedicated 38 years to his career as a long haul truck driver, accruing seven million lifetime miles and receiving numerous safety awards along the way. He was a superlative driver and a skilled, talented mechanic. At 3:18 AM June 8, 2007, Alan died peacefully at his home in Rochester. He will be dearly missed by his wife Alicia Rainey and their six children, as well as his mother Louise Rainey of Lake City, brothers Owen Rainey of St. Charles and Darryl Rainey of Rochester, former wife Sheila Walsh and other family members. Services will be 11AM Wednesday at Lake City United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Jones officiating. Burial will be at 2PM Wednesday in Hillside Cemetery at St. Charles.
