LaCrosse, WI Alan Oian Anderson, 81, of Whalen, MN, died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI. Alan was born on February 10, 1928 on the old Gronlie Farm in Norway Township, Fillmore County, to Martin and Ella (Oian) Anderson. Alan was raised in Norway and Holt Township. He graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict working in infantry communications as a field wireman . Alan farmed in the Highland and Whalen area all of his career. He lived on the farm until April of 2005 when he moved to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. He was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church and N.F.O. He enjoyed working on tractors and farm machinery, had a beef cattle herd, and loved going to machinery auctions. Alan is survived by two sisters, Fern (William) Miller of Lanesboro, MN and Elsie (Alden) Marburger of Spring Valley, MN; five nieces and nephews, Sheryl (Ken) Wohlers of Hayfield, MN, Kristine (Mark) Hall of Mankato, MN, Jon Marburger of Slayton, MN, Elizabeth (Ben) Beford of Rochester, MN, and Mark Marburger of Spring Valley, MN; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Murna Thoe, and two nieces, Ingrid Miller and Doreen Thoe. The Funeral Service for Alan will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Reverend Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will follow at Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11am on Saturday at the church.
