Agnes Fenton, 89, of Rollingstone and Winona, passed away on June 8, 2012 at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona.She was raised in Rollingstone, Minnesota of the twenties and thirties and, in her last years, she fondly recalled riding her horse, climbing the green hills, and-later- making ice cream with her college friends. Educated at Holy Trinity of Rollingstone, she attended the Saint Theresa's College/Saint Mary's Hospital nursing program. She worked as a nurse in the nursery of Winona Community Hospital for parts of four decades, welcoming thousands of babies into the world. She raised five children. She was married for more than twenty five years to Maurice Fenton. When he suffered through multiple hip surgeries, she steadfastly supported him. When he died at the age of 52, she persevered at a time when others might have faltered. She brought joy to her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived her faith every day of her life. She was loved by many. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Googins of Canon City, Colorado; son, Dennis Fenton of Olympia, Washington; daughter, Sheila Hubbard of Minneapolis; daughter, Colleen Schneider of Winona; son, Kevin Fenton of St. Paul; sister, Patricia Kieffer of Rochester; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Fenton; father, Edward Holland; mother, Lillian Holland; brothers, Harold Holland, James Holland, John Holland, and Kenny Holland; and sisters, Sister Rose Holland and Eileen Holland. Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at The Chapel of Our Lady at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare with visitation one hour prior. Reverend Michael Cronin from the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart will officiate.
